LuxCity, described as a city made from light for one night in Christchurchs ear-quake stricken CBD, was the opening event for the Festival of Transitional Architecture, involving more than 350 architecture and design students from across New Zealand.

ETCH-A-SKETCH is a dynamic and interactive light installation that is conceived to celebrate this time of burgeoning possibilities for the city of Christchurch. Operating on a massive scale, the giant Etch-a-Sketch will draw bright vectors of light that form wireframe rectilinear ‘light structures’ both around and above festival goers as they walk through the space. These light structures will materialize seemingly out of thin air presenting a myriad of ethereal spatial potentialities that respond to the movement of festival-goers.

This work was created through using both Sketch-Up + Photoshop software during an internship at Housing New Zealand Corporation.

Coffee Table
Auckland, 2014.
Fabrication Elective Paper.

A ply wood coffee table designed using CNC digital fabrication methods. The design concept was to design a piece of furniture that was fabricated without nails and minimal fixings.

After modelling the table in Rhino the CNC was used to cut out each ply member individually ensuring each member is exact and precisely accurate. Domino joints, dowelling and glue joints were used and taken into account before the CNC was used.

The individual components are held together by dowelling and glue. The design and fabrication allows for a dip in the componentry and provides a shelving space or possible magazine rack.
